Boss Katana-100 Gen 3: 100-Watt Modeling Combo with Evolved Tube Logic

The Boss Katana-100 Gen 3 is a 100-watt, 1x12 modeling combo built around BOSS's evolved Tube Logic architecture, delivering valve-inspired tone in a portable cabinet. Equipped with a custom 30 cm (12-inch) speaker and reactive Class AB power, this third-generation combo produces stage-ready sound that responds to playing dynamics like a real tube amp. Players who want gig-ready volume, deep tone customization, and silent recording from one box will find everything they need here.

What Sets This Combo Apart

The newly developed Pushed amp character captures the touch-sensitive edge-of-breakup sound of a clean tube combo driven into harmonic saturation, responding to pick attack and volume knob position. Three-way Cabinet Resonance (Vintage, Modern, Deep) shapes how the speaker interacts with the room, while IR-based Air Feel mic emulation delivers convincing direct tone for recording and front-of-house feeds.

Power Section and Speaker — Stage-Ready Headroom

Reactive Class AB power delivers 100 watts through a custom 30 cm (12-inch) driver, with Power Control scaling output down to 0.5 W without sacrificing cranked-amp feel.

• Rated Power Output: 100 W — enough volume for most live situations
• Speaker Configuration: 30 cm (12 inches) x 1 — a single custom driver tuned for full-range response
• Power Control: 0.5 W / Half / Max / Standby — cranked-amp tone at any listening level

Amp Characters and Effects — 12 Voicings, Five Engines

Six amp characters cover every style from acoustic-electric to high-gain metal, with the Variation switch doubling the count to 12 distinct voicings.

• Amp Characters: Acoustic, Clean, Pushed, Crunch, Lead, Brown — covers country cleans through 1980s hard rock
• Effects Sections: Booster, Mod, FX, Delay, Reverb — five simultaneous engines with dedicated knobs
• Tone Setting Memories: 8 presets — instant recall of complete amp and effect setups

Connectivity and Foot Control — Studio, Stage, Silent Practice

Four channels, rear-panel footswitch and expression pedal jacks, plus a Bluetooth adaptor slot for wireless Tone Studio editing make this combo a flexible centerpiece.

• Number of Channels: 4 — plus Panel mode for live manual control
• Inputs: Input, Power Amp In, Return, Footswitch, AUX IN — bypass the preamp or add outboard effects
• Outputs: Line Out, Stereo Headphones, USB-C, Send — cab-simulated feeds for recording and PA
• Bluetooth: No (optional BT-DUAL adaptor) — wireless Tone Studio editing when installed

Who Should Buy the Boss Katana-100 Gen 3

The Katana-100 Gen 3 is the right choice for gigging guitarists, home recordists, and practice players who need one amp covering every scenario from bedroom to club stage. Pedalboard players will appreciate the FX loop and Power Amp In jack, letting the combo serve as a powered cabinet for an external modeler. Studio users get IR-loaded cab simulation on the Line Out, headphone, and USB outputs.
