The U857QU is an ultracardioid condenser gooseneck microphone in a short-neck configuration, designed for applications where tighter directional control and higher feedback rejection are required compared to standard cardioid gooseneck models. The narrower polar pattern of the ultracardioid capsule makes the U857QU well suited for noisy conference environments, podium applications with nearby loudspeakers, and installed sound systems in acoustically reverberant spaces.

Ultracardioid Pattern for Feedback Control

The ultracardioid polar pattern provides a noticeably narrower acceptance angle than cardioid, resulting in higher gain-before-feedback and better rejection of room reflections from the sides. This pattern is particularly effective in reinforcement systems where loudspeaker coverage overlaps the microphone position, such as podiums with side-fill speakers or conference rooms with ceiling speakers near the table center.

Short Neck and Phantom Power
